Obituary
David Reidar Geyer was born on June 25, 1980, to the late Helen D. Geyer and Cirilo Carrillo. He was predeceased by his niece, Laurie Cooper. He leaves behind his children Davon Geyer-Wright, Michael Green, David (DJ) Geyer Jr, Ma'Ryah Hagens, Jackie Ellison, and Jasmine Wright. Also surviving him is at one time the love of his life and apart of his life for over 20 years, Garstina Horsey Geyer. His granddaughter Addie Green and grandson Jayden Holder, and his sisters Corinne Cooper, Denise Moore, Rosa, Evangelina, and Martha Carillo. His brothers Walter Geyer Jr, Jose Carrillo, Jaime Carrillo, Pedro Carrillo, Delia Carillo, Jose Carillo, Juanelo Carillo, and Tere Carrillo, also survive him. He was a cherished uncle to his nephews Christopher and RJ Moore, Steven Satchel, Dusty and Leroy Cooper, and his nieces Angela and Kimmy Cooper, Jaime Geyer, and Jennifer Moore. He was a friend to many and a respected coworker.
David was an upbeat, hardworking man known for his radiant smile. He shared a special bond with his 12-year-old German Shepherd, "Killer," his first and faithful canine companion. A graduate of Milford High School, David was a prominent member of the cross country team and a frequent participant in local 5k races. He furthered his education at Sussex Tech, earning masters in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. With over 20 years in the HVAC field, he was a master of his craft, often saying, "I'm the best at what I do, and nobody can tell me otherwise."
A diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, David enjoyed watching movies and grilling in his leisure time. As a young man, he spent hours on local basketball courts and cherished trips to Lewes Beach with his family. He was a playful, caring presence in the lives of his nephews and sons, engaging in friendly wrestling matches and encouraging them to become resilient. David was a proud and active father, delighting in milestones like buying his children's first cars and attending their graduations. He wore his emotions on his sleeve when his youngest son enlisted in the Army, feeling a mix of pride and melancholy as his children matured.
David, a natural jokester, was a magnet for friendship, known for his ability to make everyone laugh. He had a special fondness for holidays, particularly Halloween and the Fourth of July, often dazzling those around him with impressive costumes and abundant fireworks. Those close to him remember his encouraging words, urging them to find their passion and excel in it, much like he did. His lifelong ambition was to own and operate his HVAC business, providing for a worry-free retirement. David's loss leaves a profound void, and he will be deeply missed.
