Raymond L. Geyer

Raymond Geyer, 94, of Adkins, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on June 9, 1931, Raymond was the fourth of seven children to Harry and Mary (Skonetski) Geyer.

He was raised on a farm in Yorktown, Texas, where he developed the quiet strength, deep work ethic, and love for the land that would shape the rest of his life. At 18, he moved to San Antonio and began working for the Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Company before being drafted into the U.S. Army. His time in service took him to places like New York and eventually back to Texas, where he found long-term work at Kelly Field.

While maintaining his full-time job, Raymond and his brother ventured into farming and ranching-a passion that endured well beyond retirement. He took immense pride in working the land, bailing hay, and tending cattle. Known for his love of tractors, he rarely let anyone else behind the wheel-a testament to both his skill and quiet perfectionism.

An avid outdoorsman, Raymond had a remarkable ability to spot game when others came up empty. His calm demeanor made him a legendary deer hunter among family and friends. He also found great joy fishing along the Texas Coast, especially when surrounded by loved ones.

Raymond met his wife, Cecilia, while working at Kelly. They married in 1992 and shared a life filled with hard work, devotion, and simple pleasures. Together they raised cattle, hunted, fished, and grew an abundant vegetable garden – preserving the harvest to share with family. The couple also volunteered faithfully in their parish until moving out of town.

A man of few words, Raymond was steady, dependable, and quietly generous. He was always ready to lend a hand when needed – though, true to form, you had to ask.

Raymond will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing his gentle, steadfast spirit.

He is survived by his brothers Leonard Geyer and Harry Geyer Jr.; his sisters Jeanette Morrisett and Evelyn Ruble; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry, and Mary Geyer; his brother Edward Geyer; his sister Eleanor Gorley; and his beloved wife, Cecilia.
