David Ray Glisson Sr.

David Ray Glisson, Sr., 79, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023, at his residence.
He was born February 12, 1944, a native of Gaston Co, NC, son of the late Wilson and Sadie Glisson.
David was a 20-year veteran of the US Navy Reserves. He loved his country and serving in the military. He loved his family, was an extremely hard-working man, and always put others before himself.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Glisson; and sisters, Geneva Cunningham and Betty Hicks.
David is survived by his wife, Helen Barnes Glisson; sons, David Ray Glisson, Jr., and Kevin Glisson and wife Brenda; grandchildren, Aaron Glisson, Matthew Glisson and partner Ashley Welch, Trent Glisson, and Summer Glisson; and great-grandchildren, Brody Glisson, and Mataley Glisson.
A funeral service officiated by Rev. Johnny Yarboro, will be held 12pm, Monday, August 28, 2023, with military honors by the US Navy, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
