William Gene Hill

William "Gene" Hill, 88, of Vale, NC, passed away on March 14, 2026, at Carolina Caring Hospice
House in Sherrills Ford, NC.

Gene was born August 21, 1937, in Gaston County, NC, to the late William Martin Hill and Lula Allen Hill.

Gene was a hard worker and loved his family. He was humble, kind, very patient, and never raised his voice.

The family would like to thank North Brook Rest Home, Vale, NC, for their loving care of Gene.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hill; brothers, Leonard, Boyce, and Earl Hill; and sisters, Flo Glover, Margie Thomas, and Ethel Skidmore.

Gene is survived by his nieces, Linda Moose, Nita Caldwell, Brenda Glover, Kim Stone, and Gail Morton; a nephew, Tim Hill; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

A graveside service, officiated by Rev. Sam Barnette, will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 2:00 pm, at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, 5323 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28056.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring - Sherrills Ford Hospice, 7473 Sherrills Ford Road, Sherrills Ford, NC 28673.
