David P. Gonzales, born on March 22, 1948, in Pettus, Texas, left us on November 23, 2024. David was a pillar of his community and a beacon of joy and inspiration for his family and friends. David proudly served his country for three years and earned the National Defense Service Medal Marksman M16. His radiant smile, contagious laughter, and unwavering courage will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Josefina Peña Gonzales, his sister Lorraine, his brother Israel Gonzales, his nephew Israel Gonzales Jr., and his brothers-in-law, Johnny Saenz, Orlando Alvarez, and John Piña.
David is survived by his wife, Florinda Gonzales; his children, Abelardo (Abie) Gutierrez, Marissa Gutierrez, and David Gonzales. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Saenz, Cynthia Alvarez, Suzy Pina, and Sylvia Lee; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Trevino Funeral Home on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 5:00pm - 8:00pm with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be conducted by Father Jacob Valayath at St. James Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be David Paul Gonzales, Abelardo Gutierrez, Lee Gutierrez, Geronimo Gonzales, Ray Gonzales, and Alex Trevino.
