David A. Gramelspacher, 64, of South Bend, IN, passed away unexpectedly at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2025 in his home.

David was born on August 13, 1960 to the late Kenneth and Norma Jean (French) Gramelspacher in Waynesboro, MS, and has lived in South Bend, IN since 1986. Along with his parents; he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William E. and Evelyn Roan.

He graduated in 1978 from Newton Community High School in Newton, IL. David then received an Associates Degree in Accounting from Olney Central College, in Olney, IL; before attending Bethel University, where he received a Bachelor Degree in 2006.

David was currently employed at Indiana Hoosier Lottery, where he worked as a Divisional Licensing Specialist for 19 years. Prior to that, he worked as Single Copy Sales Representative for the South Bend Tribune.

On April 10, 1982, he married Lori Roan at Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton, IL.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lori Gramelspacher of South Bend, IN; his son, Aaron Gramelspacher of Mishawaka, IN; two granddaughters, Avelyn â€sAvaâ€t Gramelspacher and Alyvia Gramelspacher, both of Mishawaka, IN; four sisters, Marsha (Richard Billings) Hart; Kris Sargent; Kim Johnson; and Claudia Gramelspacher; two brothers, Keith (Denise) Gramelspacher; Bert Gramlspacher; and multiple nieces & nephews.

David was a longtime member of Calvary Church in South Bend, IN. He was very active with Southside Little League, where he participated as a Board Representative, coached, and volunteered. He was also a member of Bend of the River Conservation Club. David was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball and St. Louis Blues hockey fan along with being a Notre Dame enthusiast, where he was an usher for football and basketball for over 20 years. He loved to play golf in his spare time and attend his granddaughters’ extracurricular activities.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Calvary Church, 3001 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46628. A Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the church, with Pastor Reed Anderstrom officiating. Interment will take place in Casey, IL at a later date.
