Floyd "Gene" Eugene VanLue, 77, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2025 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN, following an illness.
He was born on September 18, 1948 to the late Edward and Jeanette (Macias) VanLue in LaPorte, IN, and has been a lifetime resident of New Carlisle, IN.
Gene graduated in 1967 from New Carlisle High School, then received an Associate's Degree from Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac, MI.
Floyd was a self-employed farmer and Truck Mechanic for Penske Leasing.
On November 28, 1970, he married Joyce "Joy" Wawrzynski at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Joyce "Joy" VanLue of New Carlisle, IN; three sons, Scott (Tamie) VanLue, John (Dana) VanLue, Daniel (Jen) VanLue, all of New Carlisle, IN; 11 grandchildren, Gabrielle (Levi) Shedrow; Chelsea (Noah) Pittman; Meaghan and Amber VanLue; Shelby, Emily, Jessie, and Bethany VanLue; Cheyenne (James) Lynch; Wyatt Hay; and Jackson VanLue; three great-grandchildren, Oakley and Alana Pittman; LoraJean Shedrow; a brother, Edward (Yvette) VanLue of New Carlisle, IN; in-laws, Thomas (LaVonna) Wawrzynski; Dawn (John) Jastrzebski; Chris (Jane) Wawrzynski; and many nieces & nephews.
Gene was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish-Terre Coupee, in New Carlisle, IN for 77 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially attending his grandkids activities. He also loved spending time with his beloved dog Annie.
Visitation will be from 12-4 p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2025 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church- Terre Coupee, 55756 Tulip Rd, New Carlisle, IN 46552 with Rev Brian Carpenter, S.T.D. officiating. Burial will follow in the New Carlisle Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, 55756 Tulip Road, New Carlisle, IN 46552.

I'm so sorry about the passing of Gene
We were high class mates and I always thought he was a very nice guy. I enjoyed seeing you both at class reunions and talking with you about your traveling and farming.
