Cheryl Ann Vanlue (Stoiber)
March 27, 1958 – July 12, 2025
Cheryl Ann Vanlue, age 67, of Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 27, 1958, to Robert and Adeline Stoiber (Brushaber), Cheryl was raised with a deep appreciation for family, friendship, and community. She graduated from Colby High School in 1976 and dedicated over four decades of her life to working at Marathon Cheese Corporation until her retirement in 2022.
On May 25, 1991, Cheryl was united in marriage to the love of her life, Gerald "Jerry" Vanlue, in Star Lake, Wisconsin. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to companionship and devotion. In a touching coincidence that speaks to their enduring bond, Cheryl passed away on the very same day-July 12-that her beloved husband Jerry had passed, exactly two years earlier.
Cheryl had a vibrant personality and found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She especially enjoyed camping and spending time at the family's permanent site at Jellystone Park in Warrens, Wisconsin. Her days often included coffee and local gossip with friends at the C-store in Dorchester, where she was a beloved regular. Cheryl loved playing games-Scrabble with her parents, and "31" with friends and family during cherished weekends at the cabin.
She was a devoted member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Dorchester, where she worshipped alongside Jerry. During her time at St. Peter, Cheryl served faithfully on the Board of Education, the Board of Fellowship, and the Altar Guild, contributing her time and talents to support her church community.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald Vanlue; her parents, Robert and Adeline Stoiber; her in-laws, Claude and Elva Vanlue; and her brothers-in-law, Marvin Elgin and Richard Londre.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Reggie (Hailie) Vanlue and stepson, Edward (Laura) Vanlue, both of Dorchester. Cheryl is also survived by her siblings: John Stoiber of Dorchester, Robert (Jane) Stoiber of Curtiss, Mary (Larry) Cook, Marjean Zoellick, and Theresa (Terry) Faude, all of Dorchester and sisters-in-law, Elda Lou (Jim) Fettes of Stetsonville and Charlene Taylor of Hatley. Her extended family and close friends-including Carolyn Castillo, and Gary and Linda Kramer-along with many others, also held a special place in her heart.
A celebration of Cheryl's life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the large pavilion in Dorchester Park, following church services at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Dorchester. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of Cheryl's joyful spirit, her kind heart, and the love she shared with so many.
