Lakeview-David "Dave" W. Gregory, age 81, of Lakeview passed away at Lakeview Terrace on Friday, May 16, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 9, 1943, to Harold and Helen (Salter) Gregory in Indianapolis, IN, where he was also raised. Upon graduation in 1961, he moved to Lakeview, MI to help on his Aunt Ruth and Uncle Wally Peterson's dairy farm. Shortly afterward, Dave met the love of his life, Patricia Switzer, and they were married at the Asbury Methodist Church in Lakeview on June 25, 1963. Dave spent long hours milking cows, baling hay and growing feed crops, while building, managing and owning their dairy farm for over 48 years before selling the farm and retiring in 2010. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball and basketball. Dave was an avid collector of coins, sports cards, toy tractors and especially antiques. He loved going to classic car and antique tractor shows, hunting, fishing, feeding the birds and feeding the fish in the pond at their home. Dave will be remembered for being a hard-working man with a larger-than-life personality who cherished his family and times spent together.
Dave is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pat Gregory of Lakeview; son, Chad (Kathy Vick) Gregory of Dowagiac; 4 granddaughters, Angelica, Breanna, Christine, Ella; 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; and many farm hands that had become family throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Helen; and a brother, Richard.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery will take place immediately following the service. The family will receive guests for visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the chapel.
