David Guy

David Gerald Guy, age 75, of Tuscaloosa, passed away on January 19, 2025, at Hospice of West Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, with Jonathan Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
Mr. Guy was preceded in death by his parents Monroe and Emma Gay Guy, as well as his sisters Juanita and Donalita Guy and Wanda June Guy Price Howell.
He is survived by his wife Terri Guy, daughter Leigh Thompson (Nathaniel), son Steven Guy, grandchildren: Natalie, Hope and Taylor Grace Thompson and his loving, loyal dog, Bubba all of Tuscaloosa; he is also survived by nieces, nephews and extended family.
David was born in Tuscaloosa and graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1967. He joined the Air Force and served for 4 years, including two tours in the Vietnam War. After leaving the Air Force, he joined the Air National Guard and served a total of 27 years in the military. He married his wife of 50 years, Terri, on May 18, 1974. Together, they had two children: Leigh and Steven. David spent his career as a business machine and computer technician. He retired from the University of Alabama as the Manager of Business Machine Services. He retired from the Air National Guard as a Senior Master Sargeant (E8) in the 117th Air Refueling Wing in Birmingham. He was a faithful member of Christ Harbor Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Study Group. He spent his retirement enjoying spending his mornings walking at the mall, puttering around the house and yard and taking care of family. He loved spending time with his family.
David's family would like to thank family and friends for their thoughts, prayers and support during his brief illness. Honorary pallbearers are: Robert "Jr." Wallace, Nathaniel Thompson, Jamie Ray, Mike Wyatt, Mike West, Jim Lamb, Earl Riggs, Dan Robertson, Dennis Noland, Larry Manion, Rodney Truelove, Bill Barnes, Sheldon Dunham, Buddy Pate, David Beck and the illustrious Nick Saban.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
