David Ray Haeck, born on September 28, 1947, in Bremen, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025 in Wilmington, North Carolina.
David was a devoted husband, father, and friend, known for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. He grew up on a small family farm in Indiana. The skills he developed there combined with a passion for 4H propelled him to a degree in Agriculture Economics from Purdue University. David honorably served his country in the Army National Guard, a testament to his steadfast commitment to serving others.
His professional life was marked by a successful career at John Deere, where he played an integral role in founding their Raleigh, NC branch. His work reflected the integrity, passion, and dedication he displayed throughout his life.
David found joy in beach life and spent his leisure time golfing, boating, fishing, hunting, and traveling, but it was with his family and friends that he found true happiness. He was deeply involved in community service, volunteering for numerous Wilmington organizations, and always strived to make a positive impact. David was a faithful member of St. Mark Catholic Church, where he found spiritual solace and a supportive community. He was also a proud member of the Creekside Yacht Club and Marina at Bradley Creek, where he shared his love of the water.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Raymond and Mary Haeck, and cousin Joyce Smigielski. His memory lives on with his wife of 49 years, Cindy Haeck, his pup Murphy, his son Matthew and his daughter Shannon. Cherishing his memory are Goddaughters, Tricia and Tammie, his cousins, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and their families.
A memorial service celebrating David's life will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church on Friday January 31, 2025 at noon, where family and friends will gather to honor a life well-lived and to bid farewell to a remarkable man who touched the lives of many. In lieu of gifts, donations can be made to Bread for Life Senior Pantry or charity of your choice
