Batavia - David H. Hale, age 77, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He was born on February 27, 194,8 in Batavia, son of the late Richard and Evalena Hale.

David was known as the mayor of Rose Road and later as "Scooter" to his friends at the nursing home. He was the official greeter at the Morganville United Church of Christ and a social member at the American Legion. He was a retiree of the NYS Department of Transportation, where he worked for many years with his father.

He was an avid Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees fan. He also enjoyed NASCAR and working on the family race car with his brother and nephew. He loved reading the newspaper and watching his favorite TV programs, like The Andy Griffith Show and The Dukes of Hazzard. He loved riding his bike and going to breakfast in the morning. He enjoyed collecting pictures of horses and also calendars.

He is survived by his brothers, Richard A. (Cheryl) Hale, Sr. of Alexander, and Larry Downey; his sister, Sharon Witthuh,n and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday from 10 am to 11 am at the Morganville United Church of Christ, 8466 Morganville Road, Stafford. His memorial service will immediately follow visitation at the church. All are invited to the church fellowship hall immediately following the memorial service to continue to celebrate David's life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morganville United Church of Christ, 8466 Morganville Road, Stafford, New York 14143.
