David E. Hamilton, 71, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. A United States Army veteran, David dedicated four years of his life to serving his country before transitioning to his career and eventually retiring from BAE Systems in Louisville.
Born on August 19, 1954, David was the son of Glenn Hamilton and Genevieve (Lee) Russell. Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters, Jackie, Nancy, Norma, and Pam, as well as his brother-in-law, Scott Halliday.
David was an avid golfer and a passionate supporter of the Kentucky Wildcats, displaying loyalty and pride for his team. Those who knew him were also well aware of his love for animals, especially his beloved dogs, Ellie and Reggie. David's family held a special place in his heart, particularly the moments he spent with his granddaughter, Riley, who brought him immense joy and happiness.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Karen (Halliday) Hamilton, with whom he shared a life filled with love and memories. Additionally, he leaves behind his son, Adam Hamilton (Amanda), his brother, Mike Ford (Pam), and his sister-in-law, Kathleen Hamilton.
David's wish was to be cremated. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to your local animal shelter or humane society.
