David Hansen Obituary

Visit the Lindquist Mortuary - Kaysville website to view the full obituary.

David Fred Hansen was born on November 21, 1943, in Ogden, Utah, to Willard and Norma Hansen. He grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1962. Throughout his life, Dave maintained close friendships with many of his classmates and proudly served on the committee for his 1962 high school reunion.

Dave dedicated nearly five decades to his professional career, spending 40 years with the Telephone Company through its many transitions—AT&T, Mountain Bell, US West, Qwest, and CenturyLink—and an additional nine years with IBM. Although he earned a degree in Accounting from Weber State University, his career focused on mainframe computer systems, where his technical skills and problem-solving abilities were highly valued.

In December 1963, Dave married Louise Burrows in the Logan Temple. Together, they had two children, Eva Cathleen and Curtis Darrell. The marriage later ended in divorce. In April 1971, Dave married Glenna Owen, with whom he shared a loving partnership and had two children, Brian Fred and Barbara Jennifer.

Dave had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed golf, skiing, handball, fishing, hunting, boating, and water skiing, and was an outdoorsman at heart. He built a family cabin in Island Park, Idaho—a place that became a treasured gathering spot. Over time, Dave and Glenna welcomed family and friends to enjoy the outdoors and time together there.

Dave and Glenna loved traveling with family and friends and sharing many memorable adventures. They kept a boat at Lake Powell. After retiring, they built a second home in St. George to enjoy the winter months. There, Dave formed new friendships and reconnected with many former telephone company colleagues who also wintered in the area.

Dave had a lifelong passion for cars, especially Mercedes-Benz vehicles. He took great pride in his collection and enjoyed working on them alongside his son, creating both mechanical projects and meaningful time together.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Glenna; his four children: Eva Cathy Yekal, Curtis Darrell Hansen, Brian (Jodie) Hansen, and Barbara (Craig) Cleary; and his sisters: Susan (Chuck) Johnson, Kristin (Mark) Graves, and Shawn (Lynn) Hansen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Norma Hansen, and his brother, Roger Hansen
