David L. Hanson

David Lee Hanson, age 80, of St. Croix Falls, WI passed away peacefully Sunday, February 1, 2026.

He was born June 7th, 1945, in Red Wing, Minnesota. His parents were Cliff and Pearl (Plumley) Hanson. Siblings Ruby, Francis and Martin. David is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; two daughters, Marie and Joy; along with granddaughter Athena.

David attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, receiving a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in geology. He also completed master's courses at the University of Wisconsin in Platteville. He taught sixth grade for 35 years at St. Croix Falls Middle School, along with coaching football, wrestling, and baseball. He married his soulmate, Margaret (Frost) on June 4, 1972. David never faltered in lighting up a room and maintained close childhood friends. A jack-of-all trades - David was an avid fisherman and hunted deer. With such a major appreciation for the natural and spiritual world, he was always doing whatever he could to make someone smile and feel safe. David also enjoyed writing poetry and volunteered at Lions Club for over 50 years.

Memorial service for David will be Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Fine Arts Center at St. Croix Falls High School. Visitation will be one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the St. Croix Falls Lions Club, the American Legion, or the St. Croix Falls school district.
