David Lee Helmering, of Steelville, MO, was born on Wednesday, September 30, 1953, in St. Louis, MO to Laurence Lee Helmering and Susanne Francis Helmering, nee Sutton. He passed away at his home on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 6 days.
David graduated Steelville High School in the Class of 1972. He married Judy Ann Kreamalmyer, on December 15, 1973, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cuba, MO, and to this union three children were born. David previously attended St. Michael Catholic Church in Steelville and served as an usher, was on the Extension Council for several years and was a lifelong resident of Steelville. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying his work and time on the farm, fishing and the simple things in life. Most of all, David loved his family and spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Susanne Helmering; grandparents, Harold and Ruth Helmering and Stella Sutton; brother, Tim Helmering and infant son, James Lee Helmering.
David is survived by his loving children, Laura (husband, Nick) Hoff of Steelville, MO and Matthew (wife, Sarah) Helmering of Kansas City, MO; 4 grandchildren, Nicholas Hoff, Allison Hoff, Malachi Helmering and Isaiah Helmering; brother, Alan (wife, Karla) Helmering of Linn, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family chose cremation as his final disposition and will have a Celebration of Life at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Steelville FFA.
