David Lewis Hemminger, 84, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at his home.
Funeral services for David will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later time. David Hemminger was born on November 10, 1939 in Harlan, Iowa. He was the son of Lewis and Rachel (Kerr) Hemminger. David graduated from Harlan High School. On April 18, 1994, David was united in marriage to Marilyn Mollohan in Las Vegas. David worked as a diesel mechanic for Chicago Northwestern Railroad until his retirement. In his younger years, he was a member of the Moose Lodge in Marshalltown. Dave was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing, boating and camping. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards. He also loved to go down to Florida with Marilyn every winter.
David is survived by his children: David Hemminger Jr., Deb Specht and Dan Hemminger. Step children: Suzette (Brian) Dostal, Bric (Debbie) Garrett and Chip Garrett. Grandchildren: Brent (Christina) Specht, Grant Specht, Rachel (Matt) Haynes and Jimmy (Alyssa) Hemminger along with several step grandchildren. Great grandchildren: Carson Specht, Maddie Specht, Mackenzie Hemminger, Logan Hemminger and Liam Haynes. He is also survived by siblings: Richard Hemminger, Sally Davis, Cindy Powell, Rick Hemminger and Rhonda Jamshia plus his close friends.
David is preceded in death by his wife: Marilyn; parents: Lewis and Rachel and many friends.
