David Ray Hemphill passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025 at his home in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 85. David was born October 21, 1939 in Pampa, TX. He lived in Oklahoma for the last six years. David loved his four children and all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved watching sports on tv, any team that was from Texas or Oklahoma. After being a truck driver for over 50 years, he slowed down to enjoy traveling and visiting family. His family all loved hearing his old trucker stories and the way he told them, living up to his old CB handle – Slow Talker. He taught his children how to drive, that it's okay to show emotion and be sensitive. Also, how to be patient and kind to everyone. He always knew how to fix things around the house and how to get somewhere without a map. He was a gentle, loving man with a big heart and will be greatly missed. He was known for his button up cowboy shirts, his cowboy hat and his love of Coca Cola, chocolate and snacks. David was preceded in death by his wife Sandy, brother Roy Hemphill, sisters Ruth Harris and Evelyn Hemphill and his parents Elmer and Ada Hemphill. He leaves behind his sister Patti Jo Crump, his twin brother Dale Hemphill, his children and their spouses, David Hemphill and his wife Terri of Houston, Julie Hansen of Arcadia, OK, Melissa Wallin and her husband Steven of Pampa, TX, Shantillee Davis and her husband Clay of Pampa, TX. Grandchildren Chris Hemphill, Stephen Hemphill, Jory Nance, Kaitlyn Smith, Kayla Watson, Tessa Cockrell, Delaney Hansen, Chelsea Warren, Zoe Davis, Samantha Davis and Nora Davis. Great grandchildren Joshua and Hailey Hemphill, Bradley and Jace Nance, Gavyn Nance, Tayler, Brandi, Molly and Clare Smith, Kaylee, Wyatt, Colt and Delilah Watson, Rylan, Easton and Emmaleigh Cockrell and R.J.
