David Joseph Herlihy was born in Everett, MA on June 5, 1942 to the late James F. and Mary (née Dooley) Herlihy. He was the loving husband of Suzanne (née Toohey) from 1976 until her death in 2013.
David was a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame ('64) and majored in Civil Engineering. Professionally, he worked for Stone and Webster Engineering as a Construction Superintendent, a role that afforded him the opportunity to live and work in many states throughout the country.
David loved living on Cape Cod, where he retired in 1995. He enjoyed spending time boating in the waters off the Cape.
In addition to his beloved Suzie, David was predeceased by his brother James and brother-in-law Joseph Maggiore. He is survived by his sister Margaret Maggiore and his sister-in-law Joan Herlihy. He also leaves his loving nieces and nephews – Denise (Edward) Lynch, James (Yasemin) Herlihy, Maura (Robert) DiModica, Melissa (Mark) Ellis, Marybeth (Kevin) Ebert, and Michael (Katie) Maggiore.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather to celebrate and remember David's life at the Chapman Funeral Home (3778 Falmouth Rd, Marstons Mills) on Tuesday, June 11th at 9am. A Funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady of the Assumption Church (76 Wianno Ave, Osterville) at 11am. Burial will take place at a later date.
Those who wish may make a memorial gift in David's honor to the Alzheimer's Association (http://www.alz.org) or to 225 North Michigan Ave (Floor 17), Chicago, IL 60601.
