David Myres Hill, age 85 of Knoxville, TN, passed away at his home on September 5, 2022. David was born on February 3, 1937 in LaFollette, TN. He was a graduate of Bearden High School and served in the United States Army for two years stationed in Ft. Benning, GA. David worked at the Knoxville Post Office for 28 years and served on the Knoxville Post Office Credit Union Board of Directors for over 30 years. He was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir and hallelujah chorus. He loved his church family and Sunday school class. David enjoyed woodworking, photography, golfing and spending time with his grandkids. Helping and giving to others was very important to David and he built wheelchair ramps for many area residents and churches.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Myres and Helen Hill.
David is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Melba Jean Keller Hill; son, Mark Hill and his wife Margaret; daughter, Tammy Hammett and her husband Bobby; grandchildren, Zack Hill, Jeremy Hammett and Hannah Hill.
The family will receive friends at Rose Funeral and Cremation-Mann, 6200 Kingston Pike on Friday, September 9th from 4:00-7:00pm. The Funeral Service will follow with Rev. Kent Williams officiating. We will meet at Lynnhurst Cemetery on Saturday, September 10th at 11:00 am for a Graveside Service. Bobby Hammett, Jeremy Hammett, Charles Story, Larry Lee, Bill Fair, and Zack Hill will be serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made in his memory to the Wallace Memorial Building Fund. Online condolences may be made at rosefuneraltn.com
