David Henry Honeycutt, 69, of Selma, AL, passed away October 21, 2024, just three days before his 70th birthday. He was an avid reader, marksman, hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman who found peace and joy in nature. He served as a dedicated Boy Scout leader of Troop 126, helping to guide and mentor young scouts with his passion for the outdoors.
David was known for his wit, intelligence, and kindness. He had a deep love for animals, and those close to him will remember his caring nature and sharp sense of humor. He was a devoted husband to Monta Honeycutt, a loving father to Jennifer Honeycutt Craig (Donnie) and Jonathan David Honeycutt, a proud stepfather to McKinsey J. Franklin (Geoffrey), a beloved son-in-law to Eva Lou Godwin, and brother-in-law to Lynn Bender (Otis). He also cherished his grandchildren, Crawford and Micah Franklin.
Preceded in death by his first wife Susie Honeycutt, his mother Marie Honeycutt, his father Barto B. Honeycutt, and his sister Mabel Ozanich, David is survived by his wife, his children, his step-daughter, his grandchildren, and his nieces Susan Anne Rector and Sandra Marie Clark.
Visitation will be held at Selma Funeral Home on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Funeral services will follow in the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home at 2:00pm with burial at New Live Oak Cemetery. Reverend Linda Tarver will officiate and Selma Funeral Home will direct the services.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Craig Jr., Geoffrey Franklin, Buddy Craig, and Richard Krunosky.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Otis Bender.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Valley Creek Veterinary Hospital in David's memory.
