David was born February 22, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, to Elmer (Mutt) Horn and Rosemary (Flippin) Horn. He was a 1969 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, and he studied agriculture at East Texas State University, now Texas A&M-Commerce. He began his career as a dairy farmer in Hopkins County but eventually held a variety of jobs. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades. He worked primarily as a delivery truck driver, but he was also a carpenter and appliance repairman, skills he mostly employed for the benefit of his family, but which also proved to be useful when he and his wife Ann operated a second hand store. He was also an active seller on eBay.
David and Ruth Ann Webb were married March 25, 1993 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Ann survives her husband. Other survivors include his beloved daughter, Kelly Scott of Sulphur Springs; step-daughters, Tonya McDill of South Carolina, Kristi Ellis of Hagansport, Texas, and Shannon McDill of Coppell, Texas; sister, Glenda Zumwalt of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two granddaughters, one grandson, three great grandsons, two great granddaughters, two nephews, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by step-son, Jesse Wright.
David had a deep and abiding love for his family and for Nelta, Texas.
