David Cheng-Min Hsiao passed away on August 7, 2025 at his home in St. Louis Park, MN at

the age of 53. He was also a long-time resident of San Jose, CA. He was born in Taipei, Taiwan

and immigrated to the US with his family as a young child. He spent most of his childhood in

Woodcliff Lake, NJ and graduated from Pascack Hills High School in 1989.

David received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and a Bachelor of

Science degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master of

Science degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Arizona and a Juris Doctor from

Santa Clara University focusing on intellectual property law.

David spent his 30-year career working for a variety of technology companies in Oregon,

Northern California, Taiwan and Minnesota. In many instances, he was part of teams designing

microchips. He was not flashy nor pretentious, but really knew his chip technology and enjoyed

trying to impart that knowledge to willing laymen.

David was a beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He was his nieces' and

nephews' go-to tutor to explain all things math and science related. He enjoyed his regular trips

to visit his parents, his sister and her family, and also technology conventions to see new

technologies and gadgets. He was a sports fan, especially NCAA (go Arizona Cats) and NBA

(go Trailblazers) basketball. Additionally, he volunteered time at animal shelters and especially

enjoyed keeping shelter cats company. David's idea of relaxation was playing online Jeopardy.

While living in Minneapolis, he found a new love of attending local Trivia Pursuit nights.

David was predeceased by his father, Steven, and his mother, Jenny. He is survived by his

sister, Anna (Rob), his nieces, Elise and Caroline, his nephews, John and Alex, and his friends.

A memorial celebrating David will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota-Minneapolis

Chapel, located at 4343 Nicollet Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55409, with guests welcome from 10am-1pm CT.
