It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David E. Hudson Jr., 66, of South Boston, Virginia, who left us on Thursday, August 28, 2025. A devoted family man and cherished friend, David passed peacefully surrounded by those he loved.

Born on Thursday, March 12, 1959, David was the beloved son of the late David E. Hudson Sr. and Janie Lowery Hudson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Hudson and Lucky Hudson.

David leaves behind his loving wife, Cynthia Seamster Hudson, who stood by his side through all of life's adventures. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter. He is survived by his adoring children, Presley Wayne Thompson (Cassie Conner) and Heather Thompson Smith (Presley). His legacy continues through his treasured grandchildren—Hunter Smith, Colton Smith, Natalie Conner, Maggie Thompson, and Emmy Thompson—who brought immeasurable joy to his life.

David is also survived by his dear siblings, Anne Wilkerson and her husband Billy, and Louise Mabe. His family circle extended to special nieces, Liz Link (Dale), Dena Puryear (Grayson) and W.C. Wilkerson (Ally), as well as his cherished great-nephews, Drew Link (Destiney), Gavin Wilkerson and Holden Wilkerson, along with special great-nieces, Ashley Link (Chad Hyler) and Morgan Cash (Aaron). Among his great-great-nephews, Colton Link, Easton Link, Jaxon Cash and Cohen Link held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind a very special friend, Robyn Poole.

David's passion for life was evident in his many interests, particularly his love for horses and horse riding, and the joy he found in riding his side by side. He cherished weekends spent camping and was an avid NASCAR enthusiast. Above all, David's greatest delight was spending time with his family and friends, who meant the world to him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Vance Midgett officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before, starting at 1:00 PM.

David E. Hudson Jr. will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit of adventure and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in David's memory to a local charity of choice, reflecting his generous spirit and love for giving back to the community.
