David Baird, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, skilled floral designer, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on July 23, 1946, in Dunn, North Carolina, David was the son of the late Edgar Lavendale Baird and the late Margaret Louise Worsham Baird. He was married to Faye Beanblossom, the love of his life for 57 years.
A proud 1964 graduate of Midway High School and1966 graduate of Chowan College, David pursued a career that matched his love for beauty and nature as a floral designer. His artistry brought joy and comfort to many, creating stunning arrangements that captured the essence of every occasion. David's green thumb extended beyond his professional life into his personal passions as a devoted gardener. David also cherished the tranquility of the beach and enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Faye; daughter, Annette Cox (Jeff) of Bunker Hill, WV; grandchildren, Kimberly Lauren Helton (Corey) of Concord, VA, J.R. Short (Anna) of Forest, VA, and Lillian Sarah-Grace Cox of Bunker Hill, WV; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Hazel of Dunn, NC; brothers, Doug Baird (Peggy) of Newport, NC, Larry Wayne Baird (Roxanne) & Bobby Baird both of Dunn, NC; sister-in-law, Shirley Baird of Dunn, NC; brother-in-law, Edwin Beanblossom (Linda) of Roswell, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; very special friends, Matt Ferguson, Judy Meeler, Ralph Hodnett and many more friends and not to be forgotten, his fur baby, Dudley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy Baird, Larry Baird & Gary Baird; brother-in-law, Jim Beanblossom and great grandson, Nolan Avery Short.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darrell Brumfield officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior, 1 PM - 2 PM, at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
The service will be livestreamed on the Brooks-Lyon Funeral Home Facebook page.
