David Huenink Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 9, 2025.
David Scott Huenink, 41, passed away at home on hospice on December 24, 2024 from autoimmune encephalitis. Even though this disease took him too soon, his joy and love of life touched the hearts of many around him.
David was born on April 4, 1983 in Missoula, Montana. After graduating from St Croix Falls High School, he went on to study Elementary Education at Concordia University in Saint Paul. David is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his grandmother, Grace Huenink; parents, Jeffrey and Janet Huenink; brother, James; and wife, Kristan Huenink.
David was loyal, sensitive, and kind-heartened. He was filled with a contagious joy which readily spread to the people around him. David loved people and was quick to make new friends; brightening their days with his high-spirited personality. He was known for his joviality and exuberant belly laughter, which often burst out unexpectedly, delighting his companions.
David was passionate about his interests. He put his heart and soul into many endeavors including education, music, welding, care-taking, poetry, gardening, gaming, baking, and cooking. David gave his best effort to every task he put his hands to, whether working or helping others. He also knew how to let loose and enjoyed experiencing the beauty of the world in many different ways, including planning dates where he and Becca could take in an art exhibit, a concert, or a train ride in the North Shore.
David had an open, giving heart and longed for people to experience the love of God as he had. You would often find David and Rebecca serving at church. He was a generous supporter of missions and he and Becca financially helped and corresponded with a child they sponsored in Uganda. David followed after Jesus and exhibited many of the same characteristics in his gentleness, humility, and obedience to the Lord's leading. David had a close relationship with his Savior and blessed others by sharing the visions he received from the Lord. He followed Him fearlessly and finished his earthly race with dignity and perseverance. His friends and family will greatly miss his laugh, smile and joyful countenance.
A memorial service will be held at Living Word Christian Center, 9201 75th Ave N, Brooklyn Park, on January 23,2025 Visitation 12pm in the Atrium, Service at 1pm in the Chapel with Reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that all donations be made out to Rebecca Huenink to help pay for medical bills and expenses.
