It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Randall Hughes, aged 71, who departed this life on July 14, 2025, in Tampa, Florida. Born on November 10, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, David lived a fulfilling life marked by dedication to his family, career, and passions.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He leaves behind his loving wife of 33 years, Leslie, who stood by his side through all of life's journeys. He was a proud father to his son, David Randall Hughes Jr., and his wife Carrie, and cherished his daughters, Shelby Marion Holliman and Amanda Frank. His sister, Carolyn Sue Holthouser, remembers him fondly as a caring and supportive brother. David's legacy continues through his nine beloved grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his later years.
Professionally, David was a respected Construction Supervisor with Drees Custom Homes in Ft. Mitchell, KY, where he was known for his hard work and leadership. His passion for home remodeling showcased his creativity and skill, as he enjoyed transforming homes and giving them new life before passing them onto others.
An enthusiastic supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, David rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team. His love for the Kentucky Derby was a testament to his Kentucky roots, reminding those around him of his vibrant spirit and zest for life.
David is preceded in death by his parents David Hughes and JoAnn Hendrix Holthouser, his beloved daughter Daphne Elizabeth Holliman and sister Patti Glotzbach. Though he has left this world, his memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
