Genevieve Rose "Gen" Santaferrara Ortola, 95, a longtime resident of Port Richie, FL,

died peacefully in her sleep on August 3, 2025, in Hudson, FL. Born in Syracuse, NY on

December 19, 1929, she was the daughter of Carmine and Livia D'Orazia Santaferrara.

She was a graduate of Solvay High School. Gen married Joseph Ortola on December

30, 1950. She worked as a stenographer and a homemaker.

Gen raised her three children in Brewerton, NY and later retired to New Port Richey, FL

and then Port Richey, FL. During her life, she was an avid bowler, square dancer, and

pinochle, bridge, and scrabble player. She enjoyed outdoor activities and caught "the

big one" out of a small lake in Upstate New York, which served the entire Santaferrara

Family Reunion one year and made her the envy of the local fishing community.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph Ortola and Betsy Campbell,

and Mark Ortola and Terry Bysom, one daughter, Gina Ortola; three grandchildren,

Jeffrey, Tracey, and Benjamin Ortola; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Marcus

Ortola; one goddaughter, Patricia Giufre, and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces

and grandnephews.

Gen was predeceased by her parents, husband, Joseph Ortola, four sisters, Julia

Romano, Ann Pannetti, Fay Murray, and Angie Williams, and three brothers, Carbino

"Cavey," James, and Joseph Santaferrara.

No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Genevieve

Ortola's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
