David Hunt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Jun. 5, 2024.
David Wayne Hunt, 64 years old, of Naperville, Illinois passed away unexpectedly on May 11th, 2024. Dave, the son of Bill and Patricia (Burnett) Hunt, was born on June 14, 1959 in Hobart, Indiana. He graduated from Hobart Senior High School in 1977. He attended Purdue University, receiving an associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, followed by a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from North Central College.
Dave was humble, kind, and soft-spoken. He was an extremely diligent worker, and a dedicated family man. Dave worked as a Senior Tech Specialist for Commonwealth Edison/Exelon, assisting and managing crews helping to restore power to communities affected by significant severe weather events.
A devout Christian, Dave was strong in his faith, dedicating himself to helping bring fellow Christians of all ages closer to God. Throughout his life, Dave took time to lead many groups through various programs in the church.
Dave enjoyed listening to music and playing guitar, with a love for classic rock. A multi-sport athlete in his youth, Dave spent his adult years playing softball and coaching several of his sons' youth basketball, baseball, and football teams. He was an extremely avid Chicago Bears, White Sox, Bulls, and Blackhawks fan, spending countless afternoons watching games with his family. Dave loved spending time with his grandson, Luther. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and co-worker who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Dave is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy (nee Gomolka) Hunt of Naperville, IL; two sons, Ryan (Arissa) Hunt of Plano, IL and Jordan Hunt of Las Vegas, NV; a grandson, Luther Hunt; a sister Karen (Rick) Slayden of Salem, KY; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Patricia Hunt, and his sister Nanci Vasilko.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024 at 11:30 am, at Community Christian Church, 1635 Emerson Lane, Naperville, IL 60540.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Dave's memory by putting those resources into causes that would help benefit the lives of others.
