David Hunter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Curlew Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Jan. 27, 2026.
David Alan Hunter passed away peacefully January 21, 2026, with his brother Doug at his side after spending the day surrounded by his family.

David was born on June 13, 1964, in Red Bank, NJ, the son of Paul Douglas and Sarah Jones Hunter. He moved often while young (New Jersey to Illinois to Connecticut to Virginia and back to Illinois) and established many life-long friends along the way. He received his associates degree from the College of DuPage in philosophy. He later moved back to Virginia near the mountains he loved so much.

In 2007 he met the love of his life, Kimberly Renee Insco, and moved to Florida where they were married in October of that year. He vowed from that point on to never move further north!

David will be remembered as a kind-hearted, sensitive, and spiritual man with a great sense of humor. Although generally easy-going, he was fiercely passionate about his causes and beliefs. A social animal, he was a loyal friend. His laugh and caustic wit would lighten the mood in the room.

David had many interests. He loved fantasy and science fiction in many forms and was an early adopter of fantasy role-playing games like D&D. He enjoyed cooking and had achieved a chef's certificate which he was able to use in several job experiences. He adored Kim with whom he shared a love of animals and music. He loved to play his guitar and sing any chance he could.

David was preceded in death by his wife Kim, his nephew Hunter Skinner, and his great-niece Phoebe Hunter Fredner. He is survived by his parents Paul and Sally Hunter, sister Carol (Rich) Bonham, all of High Point, NC, his brother Doug of Baltimore, MD and his sister Marjorie (Troy Skinner) Hunter of El Lago, TX, as well as nieces Sarah (Erik Fredner) Hunter, Hannah (Tyler Mortimore) Hunter, Jessica Skinner, Jorie Bonham, Ellie Bonham and nephew James Bonham.

He will be interred alongside his wife at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens in Palm Harbor, Florida.
