David P. Iddings, 79, of Street, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Camille Iddings for 61 years.
Born September 9, 1945, he was the son of the late Paul and Mildred E. (Kohlbus) Iddings. He graduated from North Harford High School in 1963.
David was a skilled craftsman and devoted family man. He dedicated his life to the family business, Paul Iddings and Son, specializing in the installation and finishing of hardwood floors. He learned the trade from his father and continued the legacy for many years. Following his father's retirement, David took the reins of the business and carried on the tradition of quality workmanship and customer service. His expertise and passion were evident in every meticulously crafted floor. David's pride extended beyond his skills; he found immense satisfaction in sharing his knowledge and passion with his son, Kirk, ensuring the family's legacy would endure. He ultimately passed on the business to Kirk, allowing him to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
Beyond his professional life, David loved traveling with his wife, Camille. They traveled by motorcycle and later by motor home to many places, including Alaska and Nova Scotia. While they enjoyed many trips, they fell in love with the West and eventually purchased a vacation home in Buffalo, Wyoming, where they would spend many summers.
David found immense joy in deer hunting on his property and looked forward to each season. He also enjoyed gardening and spent lots of time in his greenhouse, where he tended to many plants and vegetables that he generously shared with family, friends, and neighbors.
Besides his wife, David is survived by his three children: Tammy Vass (Dennis), Shari Bowers (Jim), and Kirk Iddings (Kimberly), all of Street, Maryland. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Dennis Vass, Tiffany Bowers, Rachael Vass, Kyle Iddings (Meredith), Kole Iddings, and Kara Iddings, all of Street, Maryland; as well as five great-grandchildren: Dylan Vass, Nevaeh Stewart, Dominick Vass, Aliviah Stewart, and Axel Vass. David was preceded in death by his two half-brothers, Paul Iddings, Jr., and Roy Potter.
A viewing for David will take place on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Lighthouse Church (formerly Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church), 1510 Deep Run Rd., Whiteford, MD 21160, from 9:00–11:00 am. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, with Pastor Stephen Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Lighthouse Cemetery. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements on behalf of Harkins Funeral Home.

I knew David since our Boy Scout Days and our trip to the greatest Boy Scout Ranch in the USA, Philmont New Mexico, and it was a challenge that we all endured in the rain and high altitudes.
David, Preston and I were friends in high school and shared Typing Class together and this bonded us for life. Mr. Theodore (Ted) Chizmar allowed the three of us to grade the final test. We passed of course. I think we were the only three guys in the class.
It helped us throughout our lives, especially in writing up my soldiers for awards before I retired from the US Army.
David will be watching over Camille and her family and protecting them throughout their lives. I prayed to David the other night and said you got a monumental task buddy, watching over your beautiful family.
