David W. Jones, 74, of Parks Township, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
Born January 12, 1950 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Walter T. Jones & Josephine (Henderson) Jones.
David was a graduate of Elders-Ridge High School, and worked for Wean United for several years. He was later employed in the produce department of the Giant Eagle in Allegheny Township, retiring in 2013.
David was an avid hunter, and liked to ride horses, especially his favorite horse, Jeff. He also loved dancing, and with companion Dee would go to Oldies dances at the Bethel Township Fire Hall. David was an avid reader of Western Novels.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin-brother, Daniel H. Jones; and his sisters, Sarah E. "Sally" Weinel, and Susannah Calvo, who passed away one day before David.
He is survived by his companion of 16 years, Dolores "Dee" Heckman; sister, Kathryn Mawhinney of Middlesex Township, PA; and many relatives on both David's side of the family, and companion Dee's.
Friends will be received on Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. Additional visitation will be held in the funeral home on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the Celebration Of Life Tribute Service at 11:00 a.m. Please join the family as they honor David's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's name to the Epilepsy Association of Western PA, 1501 Reedsdale St., Pittsburgh, PA 15233, or to the American Heart Association, 444 Liberty Ave., Suite #1300, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
