David Sherritt Kamber

David S. Kamber of Casper, Wyoming, lived a life full of love, loyalty, laughter, and dedication. Born on July 10, 1938, in Dillon, Montana, David grew up in Klamath Falls, Oregon, and later in Eugene, Oregon. From a young age, he was a natural athlete, playing football, running track, and boxing — even earning a Golden Gloves Championship in his weight division. These early experiences fostered a lifelong love of athletics, which he carried through coaching young runners and sharing his passion with his family.

In 1962, David enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he learned discipline, resilience, and the value of lifelong friendships. It was during his service that he met Larry Hinijosa and Maynard Iverson — friends who became lifelong companions and, in many ways, his guardian angels. David proudly wore his Army hat for the rest of his life, never forgetting the bond he shared with his fellow soldiers.

It was also during his boxing days that David met the love of his life, Juanita “Jennie” Mora, introduced by her brother Ray Mora. David and Jennie married on December 27, 1969, and built a marriage that would last 56 years, filled with love, partnership, and shared joy. Their daughter, Jill Elizabeth, was born in 1971, and their son, Paul David, in 1975. David’s greatest joy later came as a grandfather to Zachary David, born in 1996. He adored his children and grandson, always supporting their dreams, cheering from the sidelines, and finding joy in every milestone.

David built a remarkable 50-year career as a Landman with Echo Oil and Moncrief Oil/Montex Drilling, where he met his mentor and friend Robert “Bob” Park. He retired on October 1, 2024, at age 86, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, integrity, and respect.

Those who knew David also knew his strong convictions. A staunch Republican, he enjoyed lively political discussions, often with Fox News playing in the background on phone calls. But beyond his beliefs, David was profoundly generous — the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was quick with humor, proud of his veteran status, and devoted to family, friends, and community.

David also cherished his son-in-law, Craig, whom he affectionately called his “favorite dinner buddy.” Together, they shared countless meals, conversations, and laughter, reflecting David’s love for connection and joy in the simple things.

David leaves behind his beloved wife Jennie; daughter Jill (Craig) Casper of Casper, WY; son Paul of Denver, CO; grandson Zachary David of Casper, WY; sisters Gay Seltzer of Phoenix, AZ, Berna Davis of San Jose, CA, and Glenna Newman of Powell, WY; his dear friend Jim Clark (Sue); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law Terry Newman, Stuart Seltzer, Art Madsen, Ray Mora, Frank Mora, and Orville Mora; and sisters-in-law Grace Quintana, Lilly Mora, and Patricia “Pat” Madsen.

A celebration of David’s life will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Park Community Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to any sports organization supporting children — a cause that reflected David’s lifelong love of athletics.

David’s life was a testament to love, generosity, and living with integrity. He taught his family to be kind, stay strong in your convictions, and stand firm in what you believe in — lessons that will continue to inspire everyone who knew him.
