David Alfred Kerr of Wellsburg, WV, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. He was sixty-six years old.
Born on January 5, 1958, in Wheeling, David was the son of Alfred and Irene Rohal Kerr.
David was a lifelong resident of Wellsburg and a proud member of the 1976 graduating class of Brooke High School.
David worked for over 20 years at Follansbee Steel and was a dedicated Local 01280 United Steelworkers Union member, later working security at Wheeling Jesuit University and at the kennels at Wheeling Downs.
An avid WVU sports fan, David often cheered on his favorite Mountaineer teams in all sports, saving every ticket stub dating back to 1978. He cherished tailgating at WVU football games with his close friends, creating memories that will live on in their hearts.
David's love for the outdoors shined through in his favorite outdoor activities, fishing and camping at Seneca Rocks and Shavers Fork in Monongahela National Forest.
He was also a passionate collector of Zippo lighters and WVU hats.
David was a man of faith and lived a life filled with loyalty to his family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents.
He will be forever remembered with love by his sister, Maureen Warr; his nieces, Elizabeth (Matthew )Schultz and Jennifer Van Hook; great-nephew and great-niece, Clay, Abbi, Beau, and Reeve; and his great-great-nephew, Oliver, and daughter Rachel.
David's request for cremation will be honored.
He will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
No services are planned at this time.
