David Michael King, affectionately known as "Super Dave" to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, in
Waxhaw, North Carolina. Born on September 14, 1944, in
Buffalo, New York, David's life was a testament to his kind, gentle, and selfless nature.
David's journey began as the beloved son of Laura Irene and Kenneth Earl King. Though he was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kenneth King; and his beloved Cocker Spaniel, Toby, David's legacy continues through his devoted family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Carmen King, a partnership that stood as a beacon of love and commitment. Together, they raised a family that includes their children: Debbie King Johnson and her husband Jim; Lisa Curtis and her husband Curtis; and David King, Jr. and his wife Rebecca. David's joy was multiplied by his grandchildren, Ryan and Elizabeth McDonnell, Jason, Craig, and Seth Curtis, Taylor and Paige King, Abram and Isaiah King, Trip and Ava Johnson. His smile grew even wider with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Everleigh King, Rory Curtis, and Cici and Rhaelynn King. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Lank.
David was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served for three years as a Classified Control Specialist and Marksman. His commitment to excellence and discipline in service to his country was mirrored in his professional life. After graduating from Jamestown Community College with an AAS degree, David embarked on a career as a Metallurgist at Blackstone in Jamestown, New York. His expertise and dedication later led him to a role as a Purchasing Manager with Kester Solder, where he was respected by colleagues and associates alike.
Beyond his professional achievements, David was a man who cherished the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid nature lover, finding solace and joy in the great outdoors. His favorite sports were hockey and baseball, and he also enjoyed visits to the casino.
Above all, David was a family man. His happiest moments were those spent surrounded by his loved ones. Whether it was a quiet evening at home or a large family celebration, David's presence was a source of comfort and happiness. His kind, gentle, and selfless nature was the cornerstone of his character, and it is these qualities that will be remembered most by those who knew and loved him.
David Michael King's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, service, and joy. As we say goodbye to Super Dave, we celebrate the enduring impact he has made on the lives of so many.
