David Lee Koebernick, was born on September 19th, 1945 in Williams, MN, to August (Steve) and Helen Koebernick.
David was the middle child of 10 and grew up in Blackduck, MN. Later as a teen he moved in with his sister, Marie, and her family. At the age of 17 he met and married the love of his life Nadine (Bjerk) Koebernick, on June 22, 1963. They have two children, Lee and Holly.
David was blessed with many talents and spent his early years working in the fields and served as a deputy for Roseau County. He owned and operated the Mobil gas station and an auto repair shop in Roseau, Mn. After selling those businesses he worked at Polaris for years until he suffered an accident that led to his spinal injury. Despite this, David was blessed with a full life with his wife, Nadine.
David was known by the names of Dave, Hun, Dad, Grandpa, G-pa, and most recently Pa-Pa. He spent many years living in the woods, enjoying outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and golf carting with his wife, kids, and grandkids. His greatest love, next to the Lord, was his family. In his later years he loved holding each new great grand and enjoyed watching each one of them run amuck at his home.
What talents he was blessed with he passed on to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He passed down the art of wood crafting, fixing vehicles, and not being afraid to use our hands to work. Most importantly he showed us all the importance of quietness. Being quiet to hear the birds and the wind through the trees. Being quiet to be gentle. Being quiet out of patience. Being quiet out of love for a loved one. Being quiet to lend strength and being quiet to talk to Jesus.
David passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on July 11, 2023, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. He fought the good fight, ran the race the Lord set before him and is now at peace in the arms of Jesus Christ.
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where
thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do
not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Matthew 6:19-21
David is survived by his wife, Nadine and his two children: Son, Lee & wife Debbie Koebernick (Badger), daughter, Holly Koebernick (Badger), four grandchildren: Logan & wife Emily Hamre, Cole and wife Ashley Hamre, Hope & husband Austin Zavertnik, and Ella Koebernick, Great grandchildren: Barrett, Korben, August, Lincoln, Cora, Elliot, Grace, and Johan, siblings: Carolyn, Deb, Lowell, and Bill and many nieces and nephews.
