David "Dj" Langenfeld

David "DJ" Langenfeld of Labolt, SD peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday May 6, 2025 at the age of 80.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm with Military honors to be conducted at 7:00pm on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
David John "DJ" Langenfeld was born and raised in Watertown, SD on April 27, 1945 to William "Bill" and Marie (Woolven) Langenfeld.
DJ served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968 when he was honorably discharged.
DJ had a love for music and a beautiful voice. For nine years, he made a living singing and playing music. DJ worked as an alcohol and drug counselor for 20 years and was sober himself and attended AA for nearly 40 years. He liked to socialize and engaged people in conversation everywhere he went. In his spare time, DJ enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Left to cherish DJ's memory are his wife, Kay of Labolt, SD; his daughters, Jenni Langenfeld of Eau Claire, WI, Lisa (Tim) Fitch of Cottage Grove, WI, Sheila (Pete Riley) Frank of Eau Claire, WI and Aimee (Dan) Wold of Eau Claire, WI; six grandchildren, Jace, Mariah, Morgan, James, Anja and Louise; and his sisters, Linda (Joel) Johns of Watertown, SD, Mary Wrage of Watertown, SD and Barb (Jim) Aarstad of Watertown, SD.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Langenfeld; nephew, Rich Langenfeld and brother-in-law, Ted Wrage.
The family extends a heartfelt "Thank you" to Prairie Lakes Hospice and the rest of his medical care team for their outstanding support and care.
