It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of David Larson's passing on April 28, 2023. Dave was born to Virgil Larson and Norma Jean Waidley-Larson on August 31, 1967, in New Port, WA. As a child, he traveled to various places with his family, following his dad's logging job. From one place to another, Dave got to see different cultures and landscapes and make new friends. But the one place that truly stole his heart was Salmon, Idaho. Dave graduated from Salmon High School in 1985. After graduation, Dave served in the Army, stationed in Germany, from January 1986 until his honorable discharge in January 1990. He came back to Salmon, Idaho, and started his career at QB Corporation. Shortly after his return to Salmon, he was called back to active duty in Desert Storm, where he was deployed for a few months prior to the end of the war. After his return home, he married Kim Moultrie, and of this union came two children, Bruce and Ashlee, whom he loved as his own. In 2000, Dave married Jenifer and Kyler Bowen, and in 2001 they had a beautiful daughter, Mayson Marie Larson, completing their family. In 2012, Dave and Jen started a new adventure as owners of the Savage Grill and several other successful businesses. Prior to his death, he worked for Salmon River Stages and Chris Bird.
Dave had a passion for racecars, and the number 14 will forever be engraved in our hearts. He spent many weekends fishing and camping at Panther Creek, where he found peace and joy in the beauty of the outdoors and the company of his loved ones. But Dave's true legacy was his ability to love his friends as family. He was always there for those in need, offering a listening ear or a helping hand without hesitation. He had a contagious energy that lifted the spirits of everyone around him, and his infectious smile will be dearly missed. As we say goodbye to Dave, we also celebrate the memories and adventures we shared with him. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and his spirit will continue to inspire us to live each day with the same joy and passion he brought to our lives.
Dave was a loving father and papa and is survived by his children and grandchildren, Mayson Larson, Kyler (Courtnee) Bowen, Bruce Larson, Ashlee Eison, Shantel Miller, and goddaughter Cadence Summers. Chelsea Phillips stole his heart from the beginning, and he claimed her as his own. His favorite title was Papa to his grandchildren, Wesson, Paxton, Racyn, Jayda (Hotwheels), Huxley, Kessley, Lizzy Eison, Sofia Eison, and Blake Tracy. He cherished every moment he spent with them.
Dave is survived by his brothers and sisters, Lonnie Larson, Danny Larson, Leonard Larson, Sheila Schulte, Bonnie Knight, Teri Taylor, Galen Larson, Uncle Fred Waidley, Linda Allen, and Abby Coddington. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Teresa Schulte, Fred Schulte, Jonathan Schulte, Megan Brauer, Mindy Larson, Cricket Knight, RJ Larson, Kaylee Larson, Patrick Knight, and Mike Knight. He is preceded in death by his mom, Jean Larson, his dad, Virgil Larson, and his brothers, Mike Allen and Scott Allen.
Dave's life was filled with love, laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime. We invite you to join us in celebrating his life on May 6, 2023, at Sweet Water Hollow, starting at 11:00 a.m. with military honors to follow at the Salmon Cemetery.
