David Brett Lay, 66, passed away on November 16, 2025, at St. Dominic's in Jackson, MS. He was born on May 19, 1959, in Washington D.C. to William David Lay and Amelia Gloria Anderson. David grew up in Mobile, AL, where he nurtured his passions for fishing and hunting, often finding solace in the great outdoors.
With a strong commitment to his craft, David spent many years working as an electrician with the IBEW Local 480, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues. His work was a source of pride, and he approached every project with dedication and skill.
David's life was firmly rooted in family. He is survived by his beloved mother, Amelia Lay, two sisters, Cindi Fernald (Michael) and Denise Sharon, and a brother, Scott Lay (Lisa).
He is preceded in death by his father, William Lay, as well as both sets of grandparents.
There will be a Visitation held at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, Wednesday, November 19, 2025, 5-7 pm. There will be a Graveside service at Lay Cemetery in Elberta, AL, Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 3pm.
