David Layne Glenn David Layne, age 85, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A man of great faith and determination, David was a longtime attendee of Dallas Bay Baptist Church. Over the course of his life, he made lasting contributions to the Hixson and Red Bank communities through his work in utility management, construction, and skilled trade. David began his career as a manager for Hixson Utility Water Company before venturing into residential development. He built Brookwood Apartments in Red Bank, followed by several subdivisions including Shannon Hills, Franklin Estates, and Northbrook. Later, he worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority as a pipe fitter with Local 43. Even after retiring from TVA, his passion for construction led him to develop the Southland Pointe neighborhood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Ray and Sylvia Marie Frizzell Layne, and his sisters, Joanne Gilreath and Barbara Grant. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 63 years, Katherine Lucille Davidson Layne; his son, Gregg (Robin) Layne; daughter, Pam (Jody) Templeton; brothers, Etcyle (Velita) Layne and James (Anita) Layne; sister, Ethyle Rothwell; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, several extended family members and a host of friends. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the funeral home. Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8911 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379. (423) 843-2525.
