David Jack Lesher, age 74, of
Pampa, Texas, received his final answered prayer on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, when God called him home as he slept peacefully. Born in Borger, Texas, on July 3, 1951, to Jack and Melba Lesher, David was one of seven children whose roots ran deep in the Texas Panhandle.
From his earliest days, David's life was marked by faith and compassion. After attending Pampa schools, he worked various jobs that shaped his humble and genuine character: as a plumber's helper with Little Bill's Plumbing, a groundskeeper at Memory Gardens Cemetery, and in the oilfield with Wallace Bruce. No matter the role, David's heart for service and his unwavering kindness shone through.
John 3:16 was David's cherished Bible verse, and at the age of seven, his faith blossomed as he led a widowed neighbor to the Lord. Throughout his life, he remained a devoted prayer warrior, sharing the gift of salvation with all who crossed his path and lifting others up in prayer whenever needed. Beyond his faith, David found joy in simple pleasures: fishing and hunting in the wide Texas skies, spending afternoons tinkering with cars and mechanics, and sipping tea while swapping stories at local cafes like the Black Gold and Peggy's Place. Animals held a special place in his heart, especially his beloved Blue Heeler, Bear. His laughter was infectious, his cheer abundant, and he greeted the world with a bold, genuine smile. Though he never hesitated to speak his mind, his honesty was always paired with warmth and goodwill.
David's earthly journey was touched by loss as well as love. He joins in Heaven his parents; sisters Elaine Tristain and Linda Caldwell; brothers Timothy Lesher and Steve Lesher; and niece Deana Lesher.
Yet his legacy continues in those who celebrate his life-three children: David Lesher of Amarillo, Tina Anguiano, and Windy Ferretti with husband James, all of Pampa; his brother Dewey Hutchinson and wife Shirley; sister Patricia Lesher; sister-in-law Vicki Lesher, all of Pampa; twelve grandchildren: Brianna Hawthorne, David Lesher Jr., Micaila Lesher, Fayth Lesher, Emily Lesher, Debbie Lesher, Mariah Fergason, Vanessa Anguiano, Greg Anguiano, Michael Z. Mojica, Trae Guilfu, and Aiden Wood; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.
David's memory will be honored with a viewing on Wednesday, September 10th, from 6 to 8 pm, and Thursday, September 11th, from 9 am to 8 pm at Winegeart Funeral Home's Serenity Chapel.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10:30 am in the Serenity Chapel, officiated by Brother Jim Sinyard, with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family has entrusted the care of their beloved David to Winegeart Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to the Diabetes Foundation of the High Plains, 4211 I-40 West, Suite 201, Amarillo, TX 79106-6000.
