Diana Carrillo Driggers, age 58, of Pampa, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 6, 2025. Born November 25, 1966, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Maria Louisa Carrillo, Diana's life was marked by resilience, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to her loved ones.
Diana faced adversity early in life when she lost her mother at the age of 13. Despite the challenges of moving between family members and attending various schools, she persevered, eventually earning her GED. At just 18, Diana began a lifelong career as a caregiver, working at Coronado Healthcare, Pampa Nursing Center, and, most recently, serving for 11 years as a CNA at Texas Panhandle Center Behavioral and Developmental Centers.
Diana's passions were many. She delighted in crafting and was an avid viewer of her favorite shows, including "First 48," crime documentaries, and Alaska-based programs like "Alone." She dreamed of moving to Alaska to experience its unique lifestyle. Music, especially Christian hymns, brought her joy, as did fishing trips, relaxing by the lake, and cherished naps with her granddaughter, Charlie.
An adventurous spirit, Diana and her daughter Victoria planned annual vacations with Charlie, always seeking out zoos and aquariums-from New Mexico and Oklahoma to Mexico and San Antonio. These trips were filled with laughter, love, and, when possible, a stop at a casino for Diana's enjoyment.
Family was Diana's world. Her home was the heart of every celebration, and she loved having her family close. Known for her candid advice-often punctuated by her memorable phrase, "Don't do as I do, do as I say!"-Diana was both strong-willed and vivacious, a true spitfire with a heart as big as Texas.
Diana never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand, even to those who might not have deserved it. She was known for her signature Rum Raisin lipstick and for rarely being seen without her beloved Charlie by her side-the two were inseparable.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Maria Louisa Carrillo; her brothers, Joe M. Carrillo, Jessie Avalos, Guadalupe Avalos, and Alberto Avalos; and her sister, Maria Juanita Prado.
Diana is survived by her daughter, Victoria Carrillo of Pampa; granddaughter, Charlie Middleton of Pampa; siblings Ramon Avalos of Corpus Christi, Manual Avalos, Jr. of Colorado; Esmeralda Perez of Austin; Ramona Sosa and Suzie Rutherford, both of Colorado; Josefina Escamilla; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. She leaves behind countless friends and all those whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be held at Winegeart Funeral Home in the Serenity Chapel on Wednesday, October 8th from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Winegeart Funeral Home Serenity Chapel. In accordance with Diana's wishes, cremation will follow the services. The family has entrusted her care to Winegeart Funeral Home.
