David Thomas Lewis, 66, passed away peacefully at Atrium Healthcare in Concord, NC on January 22, 2025. He was born on March 4, 1958 to James Alford Lewis and Bonnie Stallans Lewis in Danville, VA.
David loved playing sports and loved to fish. He took pride in frying up his catfish nuggets for his family and friends after a long day of fishing.
He graduated from South Johnston High School and immediately joined the Army where he was a Med Tech. David began his career at Erwin Cotton Mill and furthered his education by obtaining an Accounting Degree and an Electronic Engineer Degree and then continued his career with the United States Postal Services where he retired.
David leaves behind a wife Shanna Darlene Lewis; his children, David Brent Lewis (Misty), Tina Lewis Tew (Brian), Brittany Carol Coats, and Brandon Mitchell Coats (Betsy Michelle Coats); step-daughter, Tara Kaitlyn Whitted (Kane); six grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Isaiah, Isabella, Kaiden, Vanna, William and Aiden.; mother, Bonnie Stallans Lewis; sisters, Betty Nelson and Connie Tucker (George); and a sister in law, Ellen Lewis.
He is preceded in death by his father James Alford Lewis and two brothers Bruce Lewis and Jimmy Lewis.
Services are on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove with Rev. Horace Johnson and long time good friend, Cody Smith as speaker. Family will receive guests other times at the home of Shanna Lewis at 71 Jones Pond Lane, Newton Grove, NC, 28366 and at Betty Nelson's at 917 Van Road, Clinton, NC, 28328.
