David Liles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bill Head Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. - Duluth Chapel on Nov. 22, 2025.

David Gaston Liles, born September 10, 1945, passed away quietly at home on
November 19, 2025 with his loving wife, Janet Liles, by his side. He is survived by
his children Shannon Terrell and Michelle Sahr as well as his grandchildren Ava,
Violet and Kai Terrell and Nate, Meghan and Abby Sahr.
David was a native of Albany, Georgia, where he spent his early years with his mother
Geraldine, father James and sister Sandra Liles.
David possessed not only an astounding talent for art, but was a naturally gifted
salesman as well. At a young age (and with no small amount of courage), he launched
a successful career in real estate and achieved the title of Re/Max Top Real Estate
Agent for the state of Georgia several years in a row. He then went on to launch a
successful company, Biltmore Construction, which he owned and operated for the rest
of his career. During this time, he cultivated his ongoing love for yachting and car
racing, as well as participated in the Coast Guard Auxillary, acquired his Captain's
license, and thus became our beloved Captain Dave. He owned various sports cars,
driving his Viper on Road Atlanta, and of course made countless adoring friends along
the way. In his later years his love for guitars (both playing and building them)
became another all-consuming hobby as he worked to perfect yet another impressive
skill.
It can easily be said that David never met a stranger, and his charm had no bounds. He
will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a safe haven to many,
and a wise father figure to most. May his joyful, youthful spirit continue to inspire and
guide us all.
