DAVID PAUL LINDBERG was born in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Divine and Leora Lindberg. He graduated with a BA from the University of Pittsburgh after studying acting and communication and serving in the US Army. He moved to New York City as a young man, hoping to succeed as an actor, but, after limited success, he took a job as chauffeur to the General Manager of the Intercontinental Hotel, a 4-star, luxury hotel in midtown Manhattan. He then became a Bellman, and, eventually, the Bell Captain, and spent over 30 years at the Intercontinental, where he was highly respected by guests and staff alike. During these years, David married and had a son (Taylor).

Toward the end of his years working at the hotel and the end of his first marriage, David ran a personal ad in the Long Island Newsday newspaper. His ad, named "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine," was answered by the woman he would marry three years later. David and Jayne (Erger) retired in 2009 and relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico with Jayne's daughter, Alison. Like all good retirees, David worked out at the gym, played games on the computer, made new friends, and soaked up the NM sun.

Unfortunately, David did not feel well on Wednesday, July 23rd, and the following day, he collapsed and passed away. He was 73. His lifelong kindness and honesty will be missed by his childhood friends, former coworkers, wife and daughter. In a world where many cheat their way to fortune and success, David never missed an opportunity to help a friend or stranger, and the world was better with him in it. Even in death, his kindness continues, as he was an organ donor. He was cremated at Riverside Funeral Home, and his ashes will be spread at the place he enjoyed most during his life – his family's cabin in a state park in central Pennsylvania.

To honor David's life in ways he would appreciate, look for opportunities to do good deeds and help others. Help someone carry their groceries to their car...volunteer to tutor at your local elementary school...tell your spouse you love her (or him) every day...and if you knew David, remember him with respect and affection.
