David Henry Lund, 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on August 13, 2022, in Layton, Utah from an incurable immune disease. His children and their families lovingly cared for David at hospitals, rehab centers and in their homes for the last three years, for which he was so grateful. He was courageous and was a fighter, never giving up until it was his time to go Home.
David was born on April 2, 1947, to Henry Kenner Lund and Ardith Sandin Lund in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a boy and young man, he loved spending time with family and extended family camping, fishing, and hunting in his beloved Manti (Fish Lake) and Panguitch. He excelled in wrestling, baseball, football, was an Eagle Scout and sang in concert choir, as he had a beautiful voice. He completed church seminary and graduated from Skyline High School and then attended Utah State University.
In his career, David was successful in accounting and finance, and was outstanding in sales and customer relationship management. He was a conversationalist and advice-giver, had a quick wit, a great sense of humor, a tender heart, and was a friend to many, especially to those who were struggling, and he quickly established lasting friendships. He was intelligent, talented, could fix almost anything and was an expert mechanic. He was also a quiet hero, as he saved the life of a young girl who was drowning in a swimming pool.
David was an avid sports enthusiast and outdoorsman an excellent golfer, marksman, trophy hunter of deer, ducks, pheasant, and rabbits, and an excellent fisherman. He was recruited to be a fly-fishing guide in Park City, where he taught what he loved to do on the Weber, Provo, and many other rivers. He so enjoyed camping in his trailer with his family and had great respect for nature, its beauty, and especially for animals his dogs, Lassie, Brandy, and especially his sweet companion, Hurley.
David served in the National Guard for several years and was a patriot who loved his country. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and The Book of Mormon, and served well in the positions to which he was called.
But of all his accomplishments in life, David was most proud of his four beautiful children and their families, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. As their dad and Poppy, he was a great supporter of their families, their many talents and abilities and attended their concerts, sporting events, dinners and various activities. He gave all the love he could give to them and was always so proud of each and every one.
David is survived by his daughters, Becky Bird, (Andrew), Jenny Page, (Jeff), Sarah Bangerter (Dustin), his son, Dave (Ana), 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his sister, Debra Lund and his brother-in-law, Frank Kimball. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Kenner Lund and Ardith Sandin Lund, and his sister, Judy Lund Kimball.
The family would like to thank the healthcare providers who helped to care for him, especially Dr. Tyler S. Williams for his medical expertise, his caring, and for the kindness which he consistently showed to David and his family.
Dad, Poppy and Dave, you will be greatly missed and always loved, until we see you again.
The funeral/celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 25, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel on 1520 Fox Pointe Dr., Kaysville, Utah 84037. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights. My heart goes out to everyone in the family. I didn´t know him well but when our family´s were together he was the most sweetest man. I know where Sarah my sis in law gets her big heart from .. I´m glad he is at peace now and able to watch over his whole family ,happily.
