David C. Malone Sr., better known as “Sweetie”, was born on March 7, 1934 and passed away peacefully in his home on June 18, 2025. Mr. David was retired from the City of Monroe Water Department, where he worked his way up from reading meters to sitting behind a desk in a room full of ladies that said he had the right nickname “Sweetie”. The ladies said that he was the sweetest, kindest, most respectful man to have the pleasure of working with. To actually quote one of his co-workers words, “Everyone that knows you loves you, and I know that I sure do. You are just adorable and I will always remember you and love you. Finest example of a man that I know.” These quotes came from two different holiday cards. Just goes to show from another’s perspective what kind of man “Sweetie” truly was.

Mr. Malone was an avid outdoorsman outside of work and in his spare time. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. He grew a garden for many many years. The gardening alone with hunting harvest fed his family and many others in the parish through his labor of love. He paved the way for his kids, grandkids and future generations to come to be able to continue the outdoorsman traditions.

Mr. Malone is preceded in death by his wife of 54 wonderful years that brought lots of love and memories, Mrs. Joy Malone; parents, Alfred Reppond and Bessie Sharp Malone; daughter, Patrece Malone Taylor; grandsons, David Joseph “D.J” Malone and Jesse Taylor; great grandson, Ronny Jr.; three brothers, Reppo “Dick” Malone, A.R. “Bud” Malone and Frances “Tot” Malone; and his four sisters, Regena Malone, Bonnie Acree, Nell Blazier, and Patsy Stringer.

Survivors include his sons, David Malone and wife, Mary Jo, Reggie Malone and wife, Tammy and Gil Malone; grandchildren, Dawn Hall and husband, Lincoln, Kayley Steele and husband, Matt, Reggie Jr. “Pooh” Malone and wife, Abbie, Christian Garner, Brandon Malone and Tammy Flack; great grandchildren, Amber Holloway, Sean Holloway, Kellan Steele, Pistol Steele, Oak Malone, Hailyn Phillips and Braylon Teas; one great great grandchild, Maverick Cubit; along with a host of extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Sean Holloway, Reggie Malone Jr., Nicholas Fife, Wendell Malone, Johnathan “Rudy” Malone, and Jonathan Richard Malone.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Rayville, LA.
