David Lee Marcantel, a beloved husband, father, and teacher, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on March 22, 1934, in Elton, Louisiana, David resided in Iowa, Louisiana, where he nurtured a community of students, friends, and family.

Educated at Fenton High School, David furthered his studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and McNeese State University, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, embodying the values of service and dedication that would guide his life's work.

David was married to the love of his life, Virginia, in 1961. Together, they shared a life filled with love and joy, raising a family that includes their cherished daughter, Lee Ann Marcantel Vincent (David "Block"), son Carson Marcantel (Carol), and his adored grandchildren, Colin Vincent, Diana M. Moore (Hillar), and Laura Marcantel. He is also survived by his brother William E. Marcantel (Anita), whose companionship meant the world to him.

A devoted vocational agriculture teacher and coach for Jeff Davis Parish Public Schools, Mountain Home Arkansas School, and Calcasieu Parish Public Schools, David dedicated his career to inspiring the next generation of leaders and innovators. His passion for education extended beyond the classroom, as he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Iowa, the VFW, and the Louisiana Retired Agriculture Teachers Association.

David cherished the simple pleasures in life, from the excitement of rodeos to the tranquility of avid reading and writing stories that captured his imagination. His warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on Monday, December 29, 2025. Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather on December 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM for the funeral service, followed by burial at Pine Hill Cemetery.

In the spirit of David's life, his family encourages those who wish to honor his memory to cherish the bonds of family and friendship, nurturing the values of kindness and service that he embodied throughout his life.
