David John Markham was born in Erie on October 10, 1947. He joined his beloved wife on Saturday, October 12, 2024. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Fiedler Markham; his father, James Markham; stepmother, Marge; two sisters, Marilyn Markham Ester and husband, George; Norma Markham Bon; brother, James; and grandson, Chase Hollingsworth. He was married for 53 years to the love of his life, Cathy Jean Brochey Markham, who passed away April 7, 2024.

David is survived by two sons, Jeremy (Cheri) and Jeffrey (Ann); five grandchildren, Tyler (Dannie Lynn), Elizabeth, Dylan, Faith and Hunter; stepbrother, John; two sisters-in-law, Carol Mills and Connie Muck (Edward); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

David attended Wattsburg High School. He joined the Army 101st Airborn, 327 Regiment and served in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967. David was extremely proud of his service for his country and was a true patriot. He was a kindhearted man, who was devoted to his family. David enjoyed camping with his family, was an avid reader and motorcyclist. He also enjoyed taking cruises with Cathy to various countries in Europe, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and multiple Caribbean destinations.

David retired from General Electric as a crane operator. He previously worked at Hammermill Paper Company as a boiler tender and assisted in developing training manuals, until it closed and Riley Stoker as a crane operator. After his retirement, David and Cathy were "snowbirds" for eight years until 2021, when they permanently moved to Florida.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral and Cremation Services Harborcreek, 5151 Buffalo Road (at Hannon Rd. in Harborcreek Twp.) on Saturday, October 19th, from 3 pm until the time of the Funeral Service there at 6 pm conducted by Rev. Tommy O'Leary. Military Honors will follow rendered by the American Legion Millcreek Post #773. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation at https://t2t.org.
