In Loving Memory of David Martinez 10/16/1949 - 08/26/2025
David Martinez, 76, of San Antonio, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2025. A devoted husband to Starr Martinez, David lived a life of faith, perseverance, and deep love for his family.
David was born on October 16, 1949, in Alice, Texas, to Elias Martinez and Paula B. Martinez. He graduated from William Adams High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Baylor University, an achievement he was deeply proud of.
Over the years, David built a reputation as a man of integrity, known for his commitment to his work, his faith, and his family. He cherished time with those he loved and found joy in the simple blessings of life. A lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, David loved the open road and took numerous cross-country trips throughout his life, treasuring the freedom and fellowship those journeys brought him.
David also became a published author later in life. Although Starr had written five books before, she invited David to co-author their most recent book together, making him a published author in his own right. At the time of his passing, David and Starr were in the process of writing two additional books, a testimony to his creativity, wisdom, and devotion to leaving behind words of encouragement and truth.
David made and kept many lifelong friends and was always there to help in any way he could. He was a great communicator who stayed in touch with his friends on a regular basis, making sure they always knew they were cared for. Together, David and Starr led a marriage and relationship ministry, which included counseling, mentoring, and teaching the Word of God. They shared a strong prayer life, and their ministry touched countless lives with encouragement and truth.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elias Martinez, and his brother, Elias Martinez, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Starr Martinez; his mother, Paula B. Martinez; his brother, Joel Martinez; his three children from his previous spouse, Becky Camacho Martinez-David Martinez II, Marissa Standridge, and Daniel Martinez-and their children.
